Dr. Smith is a genuine, caring individual. If you need help with understanding something he doesn't make you feel dumb, which is RARE in the CHE dept at CSULB. If Dr. Smith was still teaching, I'd take his class again, even if it meant catching up on some material the next semester.

Dr Smith is a nice professor but his teaching style is very slow and can be difficult to follow. We watched videos in class and he was able to give some good and insightful comments throughout. However, when teaching the material, more studying outside of class is necessary.

Dr. Smith is a super sweet guy. We mostly just watched videos in his class so it was hard to stay focused. Graded based on 1 midterm, the homework, and final. Unfortunately tended to always fall behind on material. Accommodating to his students. Very reasonable.

Nothing was graded on time, lectures seemed to cover nothing substantive and drag on unnecessarily. Nice guy, but absolutely should not be teaching a class. I truly disliked my time in this class and had a negative experience with his lack of ability to teach, grade on time, or organize. No one knew what was going on due to his unresponsiveness.

Email him twice because he doesnt respond to your first email. He cares, it shows. He is an OK professor.

He gives practice midterms/finals that somewhat help. Generous curve at the end, take home quizzes, a few HW assignments. Great during office hours and he is extremely nice. The only bad thing about him is his ability to teach. He's not good at teaching so you really need to be able to learn on your own. Cheat sheet on all tests. Easy to pass.

Honestly Smith is a really good professor. Yes, he can be slow but he is one of those professors who does not make you feel dumb for not knowing something. His office hours are so helpful and he explains things great. The sample exams he gives out are so helpful and he gives take home quizzes. I would love to take him again.

Slow at going through material; but, is very helpful during office hours and is usually in his office whenever he is not lecturing. Takes a while to grade things; but, is lenient with late assignments. Another big plus is the tests are open book, notes, and homework. Take thorough notes, do all the assigned problems, and you will get an A. Trust.

Slow is a good word to describe this class as every action is in slow motion to getting your grades to sitting through these long, pointless lectures. I truly hated this class and it felt like being in purgatory, and I'm disappointed quality this bad exists at the college level. I feel terrible for anybody having to take him, learn on your own.

He is the perfect image of an engineer: he speaks low, he is awkward, shy, and very very nice. He won't even hurt a fly. Also, although he says, students already know that he doesn't pass back exams, which makes it very frustrating because we depend on how we did. Honestly, it makes no difference if you study on your own or go to lecture.

I made the mistake of taking Smith again for 310. It seems that he cares even less than he did last semester in 220. The class has taken two exams which he has NOT given back. Finals are coming up and the class does not know their grade going into the final. My last review still stands, he is the worst ChE professor I have ever taken.

Probably the worst professor I have ever had. Ignores the syllabus, our class was about four weeks behind. Constantly makes mistakes during lectures. Takes forever to grade tests. It took a month to get back first exam. By then we had our second. Study guides don't help. Lectures are very boring. Try to get another professor.

Dr. Smith is very nice and extremely knowledgeable. However, he is not the best person explaining material. Go to his office hours though, he's super helpful and study his lectures for sure.

His lectures are a mess, so be prepared to be confused in class. He tends to do problems the hard way. However if you go to office hours he is much better at explaining things. The book isn't the best text for explaining things either. The student handbook did help. Not a hard class once you understand in = out

TERRIBLE!!! He is extremely slow, and very unprofessional. He arrives to class late everyday, and covers absolutely nothing in class. We were so behind in the syllabus, we went over 2.5 chapters in the semester. His tests are open book/note, but are problems he has never covered. He is a nice guy and very knowledgeable, just don't expect to learn.

Really slow. Explains good though. Gives extra credit assignments (additional 10%) so 85-110% is an A. Nearly impossible to fail. Chemistry not really needed.

Moves through material extremely slow yet knows his stuff. He is always there during office hours, so it helps. The problems on homework aren't relative of the reading or learning. Needs to be better prepared/organized.
