The MOST DELICIOUS Ground Beef Recipe

How much does ground beef cost where you live? While you might have to shell out top dollar for a prime cut of beef, ground beef is generally affordable. Which is why it’s one of the staples in most houses. It’s packed with protein and essential amino acids. It’s also extremely versatile for cooking. You can cook up a gazillion dishes with ground beef. Whether you are making a meat sauce, burgers, cottage pie, casserole dishes, ground beef is your friend. Today we’re making an Indian recipe using ground beef. This dish is perfect for a weeknight lunch or dinner. It’s packed with protein and absolutely delicious.

This is Kheema Pav. Which is basically ground beef and bread. Of course depending on what diet or way of eating you follow you can swap out the bread. But the ground beef is lip smackingly good. So try this recipe.

But I Don’t Eat Beef

If you don’t eat beef the beauty of this recipe is it’s versatility. You want something fattier and delicious? Get some ground pork or lamb which generally has a slightly higher fat content. This will give you a more rich and luxurious tasting Kheema. You can also achieve this by using 80-20 beef instead of lean beef. If you want a leaner option then ground chicken or turkey will work just as well. You can also apply these techniques to a vegan mock meat. These days there are plenty of options.

You can also up the amount of eggs in the dish. I used one egg which in such a large portion doesn’t add much in terms of taste. Like you can’t taste the egg in it at all. But if you add say 5 eggs, 1 per portion then that changes things. You could also make little wells and crack eggs and then bake or cover and cook. Kind of like a shakshua. It would be delicious. You could also fry and egg and pop it on your individual portion. So many options.

I’m Keto/Low Carb and don’t eat bread

Well that’s alright. The traditional version of the dish is eaten with pav a bread that is local to Maharashtra in India. That’s a whole other topic because it really is super unique and is used in a lot of street food like vada pav and pav bhaji. However there are plenty of options for my Keto and low carb friends. You can eat the kheema with my 90 second microwave mug bread which is Keto. I also have recipes for full loaves like my coconut flour Keto bread. But I would personally recommend eating it with my Keto naan. Happy eating!
